Do I need to delete the messages?

The short answer is no.  If you do not delete the messages, the system will automatically delete them after two days.

Why can't I release Viruses or attachments?

Since items tagged as a virus as known viruses, there is no legitimate reason to release it - it could potentially infect your machine.

Messages quarantined because of the type of attachments they carry are more than likely carrying a virus.  Therefore, they cannot be released by the user.  For more details on controlling if messages are blocked because of attachments, or what types of attachments are blocked click here.
